English 9: Project Based, a-g

Instructor: Malika Bell, MS

Price: $500 Per semester and this is a year-long course

This will be an A-G course and fulfills the "b" requirement (for Ocean Grove students only). Students from all schools are invited to register. We strongly encourage our students to take this class concurrently with Biology in the fall. A $150/semester discount will be applied to all students enrolling in both English 9 and Biology for Fall 2022. Several projects and activities in the fall will be aligned with the concepts taught in biology. This project-based course is a year-long course broken up into four units based on genres of literature where students will complete the key assignments that develop reading comprehension, fluency, literary response, and analysis, writing strategies and applications, written and oral English language conventions, and listening and speaking strategies and applications. This course will be an opportunity for students to research different ideas, investigate their own thinking, explore new viewpoints, and ultimately enjoy literature that inspires and challenges them. The course is largely skills-based, providing a fair amount of diversity to explore learning modalities.
