Project-Based High School Astronomy (a-g)

​Thursdays 1:15-3:15pm

This course is designed to give students an overview of the key elements of the Universe, Physics Laws, and develop an understanding of the importance of the discovery.  Students will complete projects, do research, read, and write about questions. Key assignments include a complete lab notebook, presentation of material learned, labs, and a complete presentation and understanding of the solar system.  The course is divided into 4 basic units: First Semester covers units 1 and 2 which include the observable night sky, the history of astronomy, light, and energy, stars, galaxies, and nebulae.  The second semester covers units 3 and 4 including The Expanding universe, planetary science, the NASA program, dark matter, black holes, and other deep space phenomena.
