We are excited to offer a selection of week-long summer camps based at SCLC!

Incorporating Science, Art and an Adventure EVERYDAY!

All camps are one week long

Monday-Friday 

9:45am-3:30pm 

Sliding Scale Prices $300 to $150. Pay what you can! Includes field trip and supply fees.

Extended care available to include hours of 8:30am-5:30pm for an additional charge of $20 more per day.


Summer Camps Drop Off: Please drop campers off in our science space. It is behind the Antiques Shop. As you enter the parking lot, drive pass the Antiques shop (on your left) and the church (on your right). Turn left into the parking lot (as you are turning left there should be a sandwich board in front of you that says "Santa Cruz Learning Center with a sign). We are the second door form the left.

ANIMALS AND ECOSYSTEMS WEEK

  • Animal Farm Trip
  • UCSC Arboretum
  • Tide Pools  
  • Natural History Museum 
  • Loch Lomond Picnic and Boat Ride
  • Visit Koi fisk in Pogonip

Science and Art: Flower Panels, Make ecocolumns, sock animals, animal lab books


Session 2: June 25 to june 29

​Ocean Week

We will visit a different beach every day!

  • Seabright Beach
  • Natural Bridges Beach
  • Blacks Beach
  • Hidden Beach (and Playground)
  • Frederick St park BBQ

Some Science and Arts and Crafts Activities: ​Ocean Slime, Salt Water Density Experiment, Exploding Watermelons, Bottle Rockets.


Session 3: July 9 to July 13
FOREST WEEK 

We will visit a new park and explore the forest every day!

  • Mystery Spot
  • Big Basin 
  • Nisene Marks​
  • Junction Park BBQ

Science and Art: Nature Notebooks, Still Life Painting, Leaf Chromatography, Leaf and Bark Rubbings.


​Session 4: July 16 to JULY 20

Space and Explorer Week (Closed)

  •  NASA Trip
  •  Visit the Hartnell Planetarium
  •  Visit Lick Observatory
  • Make a Working Robot
  • BBQ at Frederick Street Park

Science and Art: Bottle Rockets, Solar System Models, Pluto Planet Controversy, Astronaut Helmets, How Big is the Universe?


Session 5: JULY 23 TO JULY 27
Forensics Week 

  • Who done it?
  • Fiber analysis visit police station or sheriff's office
  • Chromatography
  • Fingerprinting
  • (Simulated) Blood Typing
  • (Simulated) Drug Analysis

Science and Art:  Operation Game, Anatomy and Physiology, How we breath, make lung models, learn about heart rate and blood pressure, DNA bracelets.


SESSION 6: JUly 30 TO August 3
PARK HOPPER WEEK

We will visit a new park and explore them every day!

  • Fall Creek
  • Quail Hollow
  • Wilder Ranch
  • La Selva Beach
  • BBQ at Junction Park

Science and Arts Activities: Nature Notebooks, Bubble Painting, Leaf Chromatography, Scavenger Hunts.
