This will be an A-G course and fulfills the "c" requirement (for Ocean Grove students only.)
Each Integrated Math course contains standards from all of the six conceptual categories (Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Modeling, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability) with the goal of these courses being that math is presented as a connected subject. Each semester will include a project-based assessment of knowledge which students will share with the class as an oral presentation.
Mathematics has its own language, and the acquisition of specialized vocabulary and language patterns is crucial to a student’s understanding and appreciation of the subject. Students will be encouraged to correctly use the concepts, skills, symbols, and vocabulary identified in the California teaching standards (and common core standards).
Problem solving has been integrated throughout The development of problem-solving skills is a major goal of our mathematics program at every grade level. Instruction in the process of problem solving is integrated early and continuously into each student’s mathematics education here at SCLC. Our goal is to help our students to develop a wide range of skills and strategies for solving a variety of problem types.
Our syllabus is aligned with the approved a-g requirements for high school students who take this course (Ocean Grove students in high school will get a-g credit).
