Tutoring Services

Tutoring services are offered individually or in small groups (2-3people).  Tutoring clients can pay per session (50-90 mins each) or by month, per subject.  Clients who pay by the month will receive a membership to study at the Center during business hours.   All of our tutors are skilled professionals with degrees (most with Masters or PhDs) in the subjects that they are tutor.

After School Homework Club
Our students who tutor with the Center at least once per week are invited to attend our after school homework club.  We offer our students a quite, safe place to do their homework on weekdays 4-7pm.  Center Staff will be available to assist with general questions and provide guidance.

Study Skills and Organization
This service is offered individually once per week to assist students in study skills and organization.  This includes assisting students in time management, memorization techniques, note taking, arranging their binder(s), computer and software skills.

Independent Studies
SCLC clients will be able to earn college, high school, and junior high credit through various universities.   These sessions will be arranged individually depending on the courses the client wishes to take.  We offer test proctoring that is free for Center members and at an affordable cost for non-members.

SAT, ACT, GED, CHPE and CBEST and Exam Preparation
SCLC offers  standardized exam preparation including test-taking techniques and exam content.  Courses are taught in small groups (2-4) or in small classes (no more than 10) and will last for small increments of time (ie: four-week session meeting twice per week for three hours at a time with breaks).
Individual assistance is offered for students who would like to prepare for an SAT II subject exam.

Educational Consulting
The SCLC offers personal educational counseling and consulting for high school students and their families to work through issues that may keep them from completing courses or graduating high school.  Often our staff will meet weekly with the student and possibly a family member to find solutions to difficult problems that arise when completing their education.  Courses will be offered to help college students write their personal statements, CVs and research plans. Workshops are scheduled regularly to assist  students in their application process for college or graduate school.
